Yeah, it's really expensive to make that first jump into getting work ready to be sold. I just finished up frames for a bunch of my work from (free) moulding listed on craigslist. All the glass was from old windows free on craigslist. All I had to buy was some mounting board and glue/sandpaper for the frames. LOTS of windex too! For 15 11x17 frames I spent about 20 bucks. I bought shitty mount board, but the prints aren't archival anyways so it doesn't really matter.
Frames are easy peesy too.

I wish I could afford to buy some of your work. You know i'd be all over it(especially the abstract skull you've got on myspace. very nice). Also, goodwill frames = crazy cheap. Maybe makeup a portfolio and shop it around and see if you can find any businesses that will just buy the raw work?

You'll make it work. No worries. I wish I could give you a better response than that. But you're going to do just fine.

all i really need to prep the larger pieces is a couple of pieces of wood, woodglue, and clamps. two strips per painting. then there are probably businesses that would not *buy* them, but at least let me hang them in their shop. i do need frames for the drawings though. when i can afford it i will make prints though... because the large originals should actually be a little bit pricey for most people i know. i'd like to do a print trade, or make small ones and sell them cheaps and stuffs. thanks mikey ( ... )

it also looks like craigslist has a lot of cheap frames BUT. i can't even afford cheap right now. ideally i'd like to frame even the larger pieces i have. frames are rather nice.

Yeah, just keep an eye on the free section for moulding scraps. I got all my stuff from a contractor, he said it's pretty common to not be able to use anything less than 36" long so they just get rid of it. Maybe call around to some finishing carpenters ( ... )
