Ficlet: Bye Baby Bunting

A short stand-alone that's kind of a companion piece for yesterday's little tale that kept me distracted when I should really, really be working. Oh, dear.

Title: Bye baby Bunting
Set: Pre-BtVS, New York
Characters: Drusilla
Rating: G

This is a perfect companion piece. You make Dru someone I sympathise with - which is quite difficult to do.

Good luck with the poking, prodding and scanning.

Thanks, CW - I do feel for Dru, poor lost thing. Bad Angelus. Grrr.

The proding, poking and scanning showed nothing that shouldn't have been there, so I now progress to level 2 prodding, poking and scanning. I'm beginning to wish I'd kept my mouth shut...

Ooooh it's so good to have you back! *squishes* And this is one of the most delightful and tragic Dru stories I've ever come across. Gorgeous work darling!

Hee!

*squishes you back*

Good to be here, especially when you're around :)

Thank you hon, I'm glad you liked it. I have a bit of a soft spot for poor Dru.

Wow! You create so much sympathy for Dru, even as you keep the creepy/scary factor high. The way you wove in the song is brilliant. Lucky Dru, to have Spike, even as evil as they both were.

You really are a spectacularly talented writer, Cass.

Good luck today. *hugs*

Thank you sweetie - you're too kind to me. I feel for Dru, in truth, poor little lost thing. Well, OK, she was a pretty nasty poor little lost thing, but still...

This was chilling and wonderful - and you made Dru sympathetic, which is hard to do when she is eating a victim.

Very enjoyable. Thank you!

Thank you! If Dru came across sympathetically, then I'm very happy - I do feel for her.

“Scared… of the dark… the voices tell me… bad girl… I’ve been such a bad, bad girl. Should be punished. Should be…“ She closed her eyes tight and pressed her hands hard against her ears. “Make them stop. Make them go away… Spike… Spike…” But the voices in her head laughed and mocked and talked of darkness, of letting go and falling forever and she was lost, a child in the twisted forest of her mind, wandering alone and scared.
Poor sad Dru, always and forever lost in her own cold and dark world.
Very nice, when you come back you bring such lovely gifts.

I'm glad you think so Petzi! Yes, poor Dru - you can't not feel for her, despite everything, given her story.
