Let it snow!

Feb 01, 2009 14:31

It's SNOWING! Big fat flakes that have already covered the ground with a good inch of fluffy whiteness. I LOVE the snow and will be dragging the unwilling preteens out in it to build a snowman as soon as I can. The woods look glorious, like a somewhat OTT Christmas card, but so pretty. I'm hoping it snows for the rest of the day and all night so we ( Read more... )

We had huge flakes drifting gently down, but not settling, then fast, scurrying flakes which settled briefly. Nowt at the moment, though. This bit of Warwickshire seems to avoid the snow even when the rest of the country's ground to a halt. Annoying, really.

Good to see your pixels again!

I bet Durham's pretty...

It's lovely at this stage, but I'm sure I'll be cursing it in the morning when I'm struggling through frozen slush (unless we really do get snowed in!).

Good to be here - a rare Sunday afternoon when the kids aren't bickering, himself is off playing in the woods and the ironong is up to date :)

Durham's always gorgeous, if lethal, in the snow.

My school is always open, even when most of the West Midlands schools are shut. It would take an
Amends-style miracle for us to have a snow day!

I got all excited earlier because we had big fluffy settling on the ground flakes, but it's stopped and all disappeared now! :(

I'm rather hoping that it will snow heavily tonight and tomorrow because Mr Cee has to go to Aberdeen for some training, and if they close Heathrow and Aberdeen he won't have too *is selfish and want him at home!*

Nice to see you posting *prods you to do it more often*

:)

It's stopped, but what's here is hanging on so far. Shame yours went so quickly - you're just up the road from us, so we must have just got lucky! It's awful purdy out there right now with the snow and the orange sunset behind the stark, black trees - and look! Past five and still light! YAY! Spring is on its way. I hate the dark evenings...

Nice to be posting. These days I feel I have so little to say (clearly, if I can get so worked up about a bit of snow!).

It's snowing quite heavily here now (6pm) - who knows what we'll wake up to! :)

Yup - here too. Yay! Here's to being snowed in by the morning!

Not that it'll stop me working... unless the phone line goes down under the weight of snow.... but at least I'll get a lie in :)

Well it was snowing here but didn't make much of an effort despite the encouragement of the girls, and the second attempt looked promising but has petered out and melted already.

Disappointing, especially given the dire warnings/promises of huge snowdrifts and arctic conditions from the met office. Still - tomorrow looks promising, if less convenient for snowball fights and snowmen constructing.

Calove! 45 Fahrenheit here yesterday. In Minnesota, we put on shorts and flipflops at 45 degrees.

::joins you in snow dance::

Hee! Watch out for heatstroke!

The snow dance is working - more fluffy stuff coming down out in the darkness. Keep it up, you clearly have the knack ;)

I'm off to do a snowdance for more.

Watching the news, I think you might have overdone it a bit...

Hee! SO pretty. Kids had a Snow Day today, so no early morning dash to the bus stop on icy roads. Still had to work but manged to find time to build a Snow Penguin :) Not sure if it's due to last much lomger, but it is still snowing (just)

Any snow over there?

There's been a few flurries, but nothing to compare to your snowdrifts. But I live in hope, even if our transport services keep giving out reassuring messages. Though if the extreme weather conditions do decide to cross the North Sea, I hope they won't do so on Thursday morning, as I've promised Joost I'll come visit him them.

You're not taking the children to school yourself anymore? They must have really grown up, then -- time sure does fly.

Alex gets the bus to secondary school, but it still involves me driving him the three miles to the bus stop (and often, given what a little g*t he is when trying to get him out of bed, the extra six miles or so to school, following the just-missed bus). Francesca is still at the same primary for another year and a bit - Jon does the morning drop off as he passes the school on the way to work. Usually works, although I HATE mornings, especially when it's cold and icy and I haven't time for coffee...
