So Mary and I decided to go cheer on the finishers during the last 2 hours of the race (that being up to hour 17). The winner finished in just under 9 hours! I have to say, that watching people coming in was SO inspiring! It was just so emotional...I was tearing up a little here and there seeing how happy and proud everyone was. The last one to

Actually, a lot of retired sports players do things like the Ironman

ok, fair enough. and i find it far more impressive that they'd do an Ironman than that they'd spend 3 hours standing in the outfield and run the bases a couple times. i guess the other reason that i find regular people doing an ironman infinitely more impressive and interesting than just about anything a professional athelete does is that they're a) doing it on their own time, even though they have other jobs etc, and b) that they don't get paid millions of dollars a year to do so.
