By now, we've all heard the latest negative spin on Barack Obama: he's elitist. He's an out-of-touch, pointy-headed intellectual who thinks he knows better than Joe and Jane Average. He dares to suggest that the most popular policies are not necessarily the best ones ( Read more... )

I completely agree. You've probably already seen Jon Stewart's take on Obama's so-called elitism.

I agree as well. Unlike the Clinton's or McCain he wasn't raised with a silver spoon in his mouth, but got to his status by his own work. If he's somewhat elitist I think thats fine because he has a good link between the two worlds.

And personally I don't feel like anyone who only owns four pairs of shoes that are mostly worn down should be called elitist.

Another Obama-related rant: CNN has been reporting that some female Hillary supporters are blaming her troubles on sexism, and they're threatening to vote for (anti-choice) McCain if Obama is the nominee. This blows my mind. There's a name for that sort of behavior; it's called "cutting off your nose to spite your face," and it's part of the reason we wound up with Bush in 2000. I understand that they'd really really really like to have a female president, but is it so hard to accept that the majority of Democrats just think Obama's a stronger candidate?
