I may have mentioned before that we have a rowing machine at home? It looks neat, for one, and doesn't use any electricity. Plus I don't think it would hurt your wrists or knees - you control the amount of resistance by the water level and your own speed. Todd's reasoning is that he can use it while he watches TV.
The downside is it cost about $800 I think - we got ours from the store in Gurnee by the Borders -
it looks something like this, but ours is all natural colors.

I don't remember you mentioning it before. I remember when rowers (and ski machines) were much more popular. I think they've been overshadowed by fancier stuff that isn't necessarily any better.

It's still out of the current budget, and I still have my concerns about fit, but it's certainly worth taking a look at.

By Borders? That would be Chicago Home Fitness? A couple doors over from Starbucks?

We got a Wii Fit (less than $300 for the entire deal). I like the variety the program offers, and the guilt-free attitude that I'd never get from a trainer. ;)

Bonus: It will also track the cats' weight!

I'm interested in the Wii Fit.

The Wii looks like fun in general, and I like that there are a lot of games that don't use the "traditional" console controller. I've got an old PS2, and that controller starts hurting after a couple games (wrists, again). We do play DDR on it sometimes.

I hadn't really thought about the Wii Fit so much with cardio specifically. I'll have to take a closer look at it.
