As Sam he gone off to talk to General Hammond, Cameron had cleaned up the kitchen and the living room by now. Ray had watched him warily from underneath the coffee table while Boot kept watch to make sure that vacuum cleaner wasn't going anywhere near the couch. Jack didn't knock. It was Sam's place; knocking was for other people.

He bounded up the stairs, carrying a paper-wrapped parcel tied in string, in the front door, and stopped when he saw Cameron. "Now, that was not who I was expecting to see," he said, flashing him a grin. "Long time no see, Cameron."

Cameron nearly jumped as he'd been expecting it to be Sam. He blinked for a moment and then nodded quickly. "Jack. Um hi. Sam's not here."

Jack's eyebrows rose and he looked Cameron over with a critical eye. "I can wait. You look a bit the worse for wear, there," he decided, walking through the living room to disappear into the kitchen.

He came out without the parcel and with a beer and sprawled into one of the chairs. "What brings you here?"

Ray apparently decided this was the moment to be guard dog and climbed from underneath the coffee table to pad over to Jack, sniffing cautiously at the stranger's shoes first.

"I needed a place to crash," Cameron said, eyeing the beer for a moment. "Sam offered her spare room. Did she know you were coming?"
