! I love this, everything about it! The 1700s aesthetic, captured in words - so beautiful, and all very in character.

Woo, candles and lace. :-D

Oh, it's that one! I always wanted to read that - I had an idea it would be a tragedy, though, and this is much lovelier.

Paramour. Beautiful word choices. :-D

For a while, it was pretty grim, particularly in the early stages; then, I felt as though I wasn't confident enough to handle the subject matter and thought best to change it to something just a bit lighter.

"Paramour. Beautiful word choices. :-D"

Thanks. *blushes*

Very enrapturing, and yet a very poignant examination of the life of a whore. It's often overlooked that these ladies were simply acting, giving their audience exactly what they wanted, and having the insight to know what that was.

It's easy to believe that Jack was different among all the other customers, that he would know how to treat a lady, even if she weren't one in every sense of the word. Just as all men are men, it would seem that all women are women.

We need to see more of you about! Good stuff!

*beams* Thank you.

It's often overlooked that these ladies were simply acting, giving their audience exactly what they wanted, and having the insight to know what that was.

I remember someone saying that she and Scarlett were "out of character" in the last scene of AWE, with them cooing and laughing, and thinking how could that be, when before then we'd only seem maybe a total of two minutes of screentime. I guess because they didn't match up to be what she thought they were. That's where the idea took hold to change this from a much darker fic to exploring the duplicitous nature of their work.

Just as all men are men, it would seem that all women are women.I think that's why they always go back to him, really--out of all their customers, he's their best because he treats them like human ( ... )

I love Giselle, and this captures her perfectly. I have always thought Jack to be more than a customer to her, and have written my stories in that manner.

I also like how you don't hide the ugliness lurking beneath the surface. Life in that time was difficult enough, even more so for the marginal members of society.

Nice to see you!

Thanks. :-) I've really enjoyed your Tartfics (do you mind if I call them that?). I haven't gotten to read all of them, but the ones I've read, I've really enjoyed the relationship you give to not only Jack and the girls, but between Scarlett and Giselle themselves. Love Giselle calling Scarlett "Letty", for example. <3

This was absolutely incredible. Such an interesting backstory you've given her. And those refrences were absolutely inspired.

I love this so much! This is so beautiful and sad. <3
I love how you compare prostitution and Jack's brand of piracy to acting, and how you describe everything.

How cute. :-) Just so you know--and you probably do, but just to make sure--GeoCities is closing down soon (I think this October?), so you should move it to a new host.
