Is anyone here willing to teach me magic?

I've seen some flying machines here--they look much more complicated than brooms.

There's discrimination against other races where you come from? How do you spread your message?

I'm trying to end discrimination against witches back at home by showing people that witches aren't bad and they don't do things like kill livestock and kidnap children.

By word of mouth mostly. There are more witches in the mountains than on the plains and the Chalk where I live. Someday, there may be a witch or two on the plains and they'll spread the word there.

We do communicate and visit each other . . . but not for spreading messages alone.

Keep an eye on each other and make sure that we're not going bats.

Not that we ever mention that to each other.

Power does that . . . Especially when you're the one who really sees all the things happening around you and you start thinking that everything would be so much better if you just fixed it with magic.

Only that's the wrong way to go about using magic and treating people like things. The witches that go too far are the ones that give the others a bad reputation.

That's why witches use as little magic as they can for the day to day problems.
