Is anyone here willing to teach me magic?

((I suddenly developed a raging headache and am having a hard time focusing. Thanks for the threads; I'll pick up tomorrow!))

You've heard of how power corrupts, right? Magic's like that. Those who don't use it well tend to fall.

There used to be wars between wizards and there are places where no grass ever grows because of it. That's why wizards practice magic with a lot less fireballs these days.

Unofficial restrictions mainly. Because even the magic users know when enough is enough.

I think it has something to do with the fact that the Disc is a very magical place too.

Where I come from. It's a flat world that sits on the back of four elephants standing on a space turtle.

As a pancake. I know it seems strange to everyone else because the other planets are spheres according to the books in the library . . .

Some people think it's because the Disc has a lot of magic and its magic field might have caused it to look like that.

The turtle is Great A'Tuin--the elephants are Berilia, Tubul, Great T'Phon, and Jerakeen if I'm remembering the names correctly. It's been a while since I read a book on Disc geography.

The wizards think Great A'tuin might be made of a special magical element--we're not sure about the elephants, but they're definitely alive.
