I don't really know everything, but a hundred and fifty years ago, vampires used to mess with the place where I live. So the founders went against them. They made it unsafe, so I guess ...

To this day, the founders are still against them, and even if we have things like Twilight, vampires have the whole killing instinct thing going on. But that's not to say it's everyone who's like that. And um, some other people are just as bad.

Mystic Falls was founded by a bunch of families. They were led by George Lockwood.

So you want to stand against the more dangerous vampires but show humans other vampires aren't the same?

... It's kinda complicated, but not all vampires have to be bad. I know that. I mean, I really know that. But I also know some are really bad news. But ... sometimes vampires stray because they don't have a reason to hold on to their humanity.

And ... it's not just having friends, but sometimes making new ones, too.
