[an indeterminate period of time ago (mainly because i am too damn lazy to look it up) your characters may have found themselves in the strangest of places - the minds of other people. There, they could learn all sorts of interesting things about their fellow detainees, such as their horrible love for disco ( Read more... )

[You find yourself an a strange, slightly-overcast city, not unlike Frankfurt in the 70's. Cheerful, bustling, at a market near late afternoon, not quite yet getting into the evening, and with a distinctive fall chill. Off in the distance is a looming gray wall, the occasional bird far off in the distance flying over the structure. A little checkpoint is far in the distance.

But who cares about that, right now there's a lovely market going on

((ooc: fair warning that Zhores' mind is a rather unfriendly place. Warnings for death, trauma, violence, being batshit, and possibly possession. Feel free to talk to me in Irc as Shaun, or in gchat as basilmemories.))]

[Good man, stay away from the crazy.

The market is a bustling little thing, merchants hawking their wares in a few languages. Bread, meats, sweetfoods, crafts of all sorts...]

[siiiigh, sosmart.

Getting closer, the wall is too damn high for pretty much anyone to climb, stretching higher than even the skyscrapers around. A little checkpoint shows that there's something beyond, and that the stonework there's been repaired.]

[the checkpoint seems burned-out, only the remnants of papers, ash, and now cooled metal furniture inside. The fire was so hot though that at one point the desk had started to melt. There's a layer of dust on everything, and outside the grimy window is another city, completely different.]

[It's lightly snowing here, something lumpy making the snow all around seem a bit misshapen, but still able to be traversed. A set of apartments in the distance seem to have jazz quietly playing, while pigeons nestle on one of the rooftops. Something's off about them though. The main road seems to head towards a Library, to the apartments, off to a strange enclosed area, and trailing off to something in the distance. The road itself looks like it's had some wear and tear, tread marks cutting into it, and something dried and brown between the stones.]

[The radio goes quiet the closer you get, and hushed whispers can be heard, Russian, and quite worried.]

Yeah even a few people in the market are giving you a look.]
