[The nights are getting longer... And does it look like the sun is a little dimmer? The shadows feel deeper, and at night it seems like the darkness in your closet could go on forever. But it should be okay if you stay in the light.

Still, there are whispers of something big coming...]

[Beginning of a little solstice event! Things will come ( Read more... )

Better shape than you'll be in ... if you don't leave.

[that said, he's already started hovering a foot off the ground.]

When did being an X-Man mean being expected to kill someone, Foley? When did it change to that?

I don't know. I don't know if there is an exact point that anyone could pin down when the rules changed on that. I know that I don't want to be that person, who does that sort of thing. But I genuinely can't say for sure that I'd never kill someone again, if they were like Stryker or if they were even worse. I don't want to do it. I never want to do it again.

But the world we live in, our home, it doesn't really let us have that choice anymore. It hasn't for a long time.

You're not killing anyone. If I'm not a killer, you're less of one. Just because that's what your powers can do doesn't make you who you are. Cyclops really screwed you over on that one.

You don't believe him, do you? He's a liar. I know that you guys had your names chosen for you, but you know what an elixir is, right?

... Dani told me about the origin behind the name once. That I wasn't being called Elixir just because I had healing powers and it seemed like a clever codename, but that there was a bigger story behind it. That for centuries there were alchemists who used to believe that there existed an Elixir of Life which could cure anything, and could possibly grant immortality to anyone who drank it.

What she didn't mention, that I found out later, was that the people who tried these potions often died of "Elixir poisoning" because the contents of the potion contained lethal dosages of arsenic or mercury.

Then try not to let people eat you.

[ a slight smile tugs at the corner of his mouth at that ]

I'll keep that in mind.

Though the elixirs I know about are all things you add to medicine to make it work, and you have to take it orally.

Which explains why you keep kissing people.

I can't help that I'm so popular.

[ finally stands up, holding out a hand to Julian ]

Well, I don't know about you but I think I'd like to get out of the snow now.

You mean unlucky. Mistletoe doesn't count.

[he considers his options, but shrugs and takes the hand up.]

Who said anything about the mistletoe.

[ doesn't even flinch or otherwise react to the gauntlet which is likely icy cold, just holds on solidly and pulls you up ]

How's the head?

Oh please. I get heaps more game than you.

[it's okay, it's not like Julian's that warm either. though he puts his hand to his temple and then winces because HE ACKNOWLEDGES IT'S BLOODY COLD. it's the one covered in his blood, which i'm sure is lovely.]

Oh, great. I'm going to have to clean that up before one of the girls sees it.

Sure you do.

[ is being vigilant about it, but knows that Julian is not in any danger of hypothermia or frostbite. has blood on his hands too, which he acknowledges with barely a glance ]

I think just about everyone is already back in the cabin, so I doubt we'll run into anyone on the way to the showers. I'm also serious about you getting something to eat and some sleep. You'll need to let your body recharge a little bit but you should be fine by tomorrow.

I can walk to the showers all by myself, Foley.
