To delay the inevitable. That is what these articles are about.

I'm a big tree-hugger cameron, but you better believe i dont let myself get so deluded as to be sad about the current state of affairs. There is no point. The world was fucked 20 years ago. No one listened to scientists when they made the discovery then, and they sure as hell aren't listening to scientists now trying to reiterate it for them in Lamens.

The world will be gone in a few hundred years. Maybe less. I would love to talk to you about this. Love you sweet pea, hope life is good other than your conservational dilemmas.

Wow, I absolutely agree with you maxx. But then again..I don't agree with the subtle suggestion of not doing anything. I for one am not too worried about the Earth. She is amazing and complex far beyond any level of understanding I could reach. We as humans are just going to consume all the things we need to survive and WILL die off. But the earth will live. The whole world could be covered in black from nuclear bombings, but how ever many years later, something would start growing. The thing about cam's article is helping preserve what I love right now. I would love for my sons or daughters to appreciate the same things that made me become who I am today. And with the state of current things, that will not happen :(

so agree with you fran. the world wont die. we will. we're naive as a species if we think we're going to destroy the earth.

and, things can be done. that's just not true, that it doesn't make sense to do anything.

cammie, im in a global warming class. i just did a whole presentation and paper on the effects of it in southeast asia, and sea level rise and how it would destroy a lot of stuff over in asia.. and just researched the kyoto protocol and when they just met in indonesia.
AHHHH. this is really weird that you posted this now. but, i mean, not really, because we share a soul or something.
i miss you girl cant wait to see you!! <3

and that raises the question.
people die every day. who are we to label it tragedy?
maybe the end of humanity is the start of something better.

all hail the devil's advocate.

maybe the end of humanity is the start of something better, but if we think selfishly for a second: how far down are we willing to pull our quality of life now in order to make room for something better later? if we just didn't wake up one day and boom, humanity was gone in the blink of an eye, left to decay for however many years, nourishing the soil, etc etc and then some other something was created that was infinitely more beautiful and wonderful than we can even attempt to imagine, well hell, that wouldn't be so bad! However, that probably won't be the case. We're going to destroy ourselves at a slow enough pace to feel every hit in one way or another and things will just keep getting worse and worse, more and more painful, agony will soon cloud all the joy in the world and we will eventually meet our end.

tada!

Yes, yes they're positive. They're positive in terms of personal grassroots action, but they're not positive in terms of the administration running our coutnry, and blah blah blah... it gets old, we hear it a millions times a day, it's difficult to take anyone seriously when they speak poorly about the President because right now it's just in fashion to do so. Now, I don't know many specifics about his administration, but about this... the only industrialized nation of 36? I mean, really? In terms of the way America is being presented to the rest of the world, the issues we're making priorities over other issues, these articles are not positive. But, yes, in them hope can be found. The activists all over the world are hope, proof that something CAN be done.

Yes, the world goes through changes. Yes, the planet would probably have eventually gotten to the point it's getting to now, eventually, but certainly not at the accelerated rate we've pushed it to. I agree, it's not about us destroying the earth. Obviously. But we're destroying ( ... )

at this point it's just ridiculous. really, we, and by we i mean the administration, can't spend money to save ourselves? it costs a lot of money to come up with adaptive measures to all of the bad things that are going to or already happening to our coasts and farms and stuff if we dont aim to reduce emissions. and, money for the war? um. its pretty much astounding and obviously not for the betterment of our people. then again, our administration hasn't taken many positive actions in recent years. so maybe the point is it shouldn't be up to them.

but then where do you go from there?
yeah..i dont know yet.
