one for the women on my list

Ladies. I would just like to take a minute here to sing the praises of my diva cup. Honestly, these things are the best invention EVER and I do not know how I got through so many years of periods before I got myself a cup. Got my period today, and it is seriously the most amazing thing to go through THE WHOLE ENTIRE DAY and just have all my blood ( Read more... )

is it possible to use a diva cup for moderate spotting? sayyyyy...if you're going through 2-3 panty liners in a 24 hour window? or is that too little for the diva cup?

i only ask because that depo provera has made me be on a very light period eternally (at least until i am done with cytoxan) and i'm sooooooo sososososoosososooooo sick of using panty liners and just generally feeling gross all day, every day. blehhhhhhh.

i think i'd like to give the diva cup a try eventually though. i like the environmentally friendly reusable side of it all. :)

Hi! I hope no one minds if I answer this one since I'm awake.

I also use the Diva, and yes, it's safe for light days, spot days, and I even heard of people using it for discharge. You just want to make sure you take it out ever 12 hours and empty it/wash it out.

I also wanna point out that not everyone likes the Diva Cup because it is very long. There's a great community on LJ that is full of information on all the cups available: http://menstrual-cups.livejournal.com/

The best way to know what cup for you is when you're on your period/spotting to sit on the toilet and to feel where your cervix is. (For me I can't feel my cervix so I know I need a longer cup.) Once you know about how far up, or down, it is there's a handy chart in that community with sizes. :)

I will be honest here, and admit that I never bothered to find out where my cervix is. Thankfully, the diva cup hasn't been an issue for me in terms of length, so I can only assume that my cervix must not be that low, but yeah. Never actually checked, haha. :p

But yeah, there are definitely other menstrual cup options besides the diva cup, if that isn't the right one for you.

Seconding praise for the Diva! I love mine so much!

I'm actually thinking of getting a second cup which is not my diva. I seriously don't know how I lived without it!

Yeah, there is no way I could ever go back to tampons at this point. It has made my periods so much more manageable and less of a hassle!

Yay!! I got really evangelical when I first made the switch. I converted a large percentage of my friends list. Everyone loved it except one (and she took advantage of their amazing return policy).

BTW I store mine in a small cup of peroxide when it's not in use... it keeps it snowy white as well as sterile!

Hmm... I see they have changed their return policy. Ignore that part.

Lol, no worries, I have no intention of returning mine! I wonder how that would work though; surely you couldn't return it if you'd used it?

Well, back in the early days (this was around 2002 I guess?) they were so keen for people to give it a chance, they offered you THREE CYCLES to make up your mind. If you still didn't like it, they'd take it back (not to resell, obv., just to be nice).

I see they also used to claim it would last forever, now they suggest replacing it every year?? I can't imagine why. Mine still looks brand new, and I think it's 11 years old.

I totally forgot to buy a diva cup! I was looking into them while I was with Mark and they seemed like less hassle pending the fit is good.
I don't find tampons a hassle other than the worry of toxic shock, but there was one time I actually lost one and that was a problem! haha

Oh you definitely should get one! Haha, yeah, I had never lost a tampon, but I've heard stories, and I'm glad to not have had that experience. :) Hope it wasn't too hard to recover, lol!

I like Softcups by instead. I had a hard time making sure the Diva Cup sealed for some reason. Softcups fit like right below your cervix and you can even have sex with them in!

But I seriously can't imagine going back to pads and tampons. They seem so gross to me now.

Yeah, I know there are other cups out there, though I've only tried the diva cup. Still any cup is worlds better than pads or tampons. And, you can actually have sex with the diva cup in, too! ;-)
