Title: Rudimentary Behavioral Psychology
Author: Canadianiana
Spoilers: Assumes current knowledge, but I wrote this before I saw last night’s episode (3x13).
Ratings/warnings: PG-13, I think? I’m bad at ratings. There’s a teensy bit of swearing.
Summary: At dimensionallyt’s request: Britta suspects something about Jeff, and isn’t happy about it. Entirely Britta’s ( Read more... )

As usual, you provide such an engrossing and enjoyable read, I usually don't even like Britta around Jeff but I really liked the relationship you depicted here, true to the characters and not obnoxiously in our faces like the canon sometimes likes to do. Totally LOLed at Jeff and Britta in the toy department, they would be SOO out of place there, like animals yanked out of their natural habitat xD (I completely share their sentiments on kids, however *shudders*)

Jeff actually kind of snorts with laughter. Britta’s pretty sure she’s never heard him do that before.Hee, I love that little reference to how Alison makes Joel totally lose it, I so wish they put that bit of their dynamic into the show, too. Please let Annie be funny for the other characters and not just for us, show ( ... )

I'm glad you liked it! I actually like Britta and Jeff as friends... and nothing else. I don't like them when they get competitive, or really in this season, with Britta trying to fix him.

And yes, more funny Annie needs to happen on the show!

It's kinda funny how many locations I considered for the backyard scene, lol. I needed somewhere they thought they were alone, but could easily be spied on. And I really do like to think that Jeff is just barely keeping control of himself around Annie, and given the slightest opportunity, he'd lose that control. Aaaaaand I'm just gonna go ahead and keep thinking that until the show gives me reason otherwise.

Which is like 95% of their interaction, hence me not liking when they interact XD

Hell yeah, totally hanging by a thread, he doesn't even have the crutch of patting her head to rely on any more.
Hee, even as early as in the debate ep, he could barely control himself, I mean he left his PHONE (clearly for the same reason the corporate boss douche refused to stand up until someone hands him his coat XD)
And the dazing effect she has on him coupled with the ~feelings~ that developed over the years should make him a goner, totally. When he lets go it's gonna be glorious and explosive and we might die happy XD

Sigh, I miss those scenes. Oh, Debate 109, I might have to go watch you again.

It will be glorious. I can't help but feel like Jeff's regressing a bit in these past couple of episodes, like he seemed way more in tune with things and himself in 3x02 than he was in 3x13. I guess it makes sense that his transition, or whatever, would be rocky. This is like 30+ years of narcissism and pushing away feelings he's dealing with. I don't know where I was going with this... Oh! I hope he comes to his senses a bit before the end of this season, at least.

Considering Britta isn't one of my favorite characters, I'm particularly fond of J/A fics from her POV. I like the idea of stories that observe J/A through the eyes of other characters in general, but for some reason, I really it when it's Britta. Maybe it's because I do like her, and given her history with Jeff, and her at times tense relationship with Annie, I like to get a look inside her head when it comes to a J/A relationship ( ... )

Wow, thanks so much! I feel like I've gone through the gamut of emotions when it comes to Britta; at different times I've loved her and been annoyed by her, but she's fun to write.

Oh, and I give all credit for my idea to the prompters. I would have nothing written if it weren't for all the wonderful prompts in this community!

!!!

Have I ever made it explicitly clear that your fics never fail to FLOOR me? Because oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh, each one of them is just a slam dunk. Not that you need reminding of your amazing talent, but I have to specifically mention a few things:

a) Your Britta voice was per-fect. The line about her "wonder[ing] if there was a way for her to get out of doing this without compromising on her ideals" almost killed me, I laughed so hard. This reminded me of why I love JA stories from Britta's POV; it proves for a both comical and sentimental journey, like this one ( ... )

I can't thank you enough for this comment. I hate saying this because I know it sounds like compliment-fishing, but it's only after getting such a positive response from this community that I've been able to develop ANY confidence in my writing ability. Before M/M came along, I never so much as finished a story, let alone shared them with ANYONE. So I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to write this. Absolutely made my day to see this in my inbox this morning. :D

Glad to know Britta's voice came through authentically, it was fun getting in her head, because she's quite different from me (I'm more Annie-ish).

I LOVE CAPS! And Nervous!Jeff. I use caps too much. I'm sorry to make you feel things! :P Now I'm rambling! /all the internet hugs!!!

I really don't want to ruin the perfect 42 comments you've got going on here (MEANING OF LIFE!), but I just wanted to let you know that this was amazing. Such a perfect exploration of Jeff, Britta, and Annie's characters and where they stand with each other and why. I hope TPTB read this, actually, it might help clear up a few things for them :p
