Proposition 2

Nov 04, 2005 09:32

This makes me sick. The Texas legislature has passed a resolution, on which the people vote in 4 days. Known as Proposition 2, this piece of writing is so circular, it would put a con-artist to shame.

Warning! Opinions ahead... )

Yeah, thats right. Kick the ass of the Texas Governor. He is the one that is really pushing to get this kind of thing passed and he has been quoted that he is really for this proposition. This kind of governmental jibber jabber double talk just makes me sick. Why in the world does the government bother with petty propositions and bickering over what marriage really is and focus on real problems, like health care and improving education.

*steps off of soap box and takes a small bow*
thank you for your time.

As far as I can tell, humanity doesn't have the ability to self-govern in the face of diversity. There will always be someone around with an agenda and the ability to yell loudly enough to get the sheep to move in the desired direction. But that's just me showing my bitterness, cynicisim, and lack of regard for humanity in general.
I have already voted against prop. 2, as I don't believe government should have approval rights over any marriage, gay, straight, multiple, or otherwise.

its good to see you losing your faith in things that were never there....when it stops upsetting you that humans in groups bigger than 4 become incapeable of functioning intelligently; you can find the real things to put that annoyingly optimistic faith thing you have so strongly in...

never forget, the dominant cculture that formed this country where two things...

1) greedy oportunists-these becames the slavers
2) self-righteous puritans-these became the government

not much has changed has it?

hate the human race
love the single human unit

I should correct myself on one word that I used incorrectly...faith in the last paragraph should be belief. The fact that I don't question it often enough makes it a belief. *sigh*

I have heard quite a few legal commentators say that the wording effectively wipes out all existing marriages. But it is being defended because "no judge would uphold or enforce that interpretation" to which the most memorable reply was "this is austin of course some wacked out judge would uphold it, for the fun of it if nothing else"
