technical question...

Ok, heres a question aimed at you, chris (or anyone else out there with some sort of technical know how).  As you know, I am replacing my motherboard and processor.  The board and processor arrived fine, but as i was installing them i realized that i made the rookie mistake of forgetting that my current RAM was DDR and not DDR2.  I ordered a pair ( Read more... )

You shouldn't need a re-format if all you're changing is the motherboard and the processor. If anything the operating system might have a kink or two. This one time, I put my laptops hard drive into another laptop and while it booted just fine, some of it's drivers didn't want to work with the new system (specifically the graphics drivers). I could still see things fine, but the system wasn't using the graphics card to display. I'm sure this could be fixed by downloading new drivers; I didn't attempt to fix it because I was just extracting some files. But yeah, you should be good to go as is.
