[ sup angel, here's a helpful thirteen-year-old girl ]

I'm unfamiliar with this "New York", but this city is rather uncreatively called just that. The City.

Come to think of it, I believe New York is the name assigned to the larger political structure. A "state", I think it was?

And do you intend to continue now that you've arrived here?

[ ... now he's curious. ] Why? From what i've heard there aren't a whole lot of things to be slayed, or demons to be tamed around here.

Because, as I told her, I personally have little patience for slaying attempts.

Look, I don't go around taking out demons just because I can. It's a case-by-case basis sort of thing. [ most of the time. ] Same goes for everyone, vampires too.

Well, vampirism is simply the nearest human approximation to my state of unlife, but from the statements she's made, I've heard little discernment is typically given these situations.

Once you are one, you're considered Evil and exempted from having a soul, thus Slaying becomes a necessity, and she'd only met one exception before. Needless to say, the entire concept leaves me uncomfortable.

She mentioned the exception? [ So Buffy's been talking about him. Huh. That was.. worth noting. ]

Well, now you've met him too.

Ah, the fabled "one vampire with a soul" himself, then. Perhaps you may be better equipped to shed some light on this matter.

What sort of led do you want me to shed and where. Still not big on the sunlight, but i'll see what I can do.

I've never understood that point in your human literature, actually, that vampires would avoid the sun. I often wonder if I'd be able to live without it!

But it was the matter of souls that sparked my curiousity above everything else.

Probably wouldn't spend so much time avoiding it if it didn't try to flame grill me every time I made contact.

What about 'em?

Yes, I've heard that was the case, but I still find it difficult to imagine.

As for souls, it was particularly their supposed absence that I was asking about.

When you die- become a vampire, the demon doesn't get to keep your soul.

Which demon would that be referring to?
