[ sup angel, here's a helpful thirteen-year-old girl ]

I'm unfamiliar with this "New York", but this city is rather uncreatively called just that. The City.

Come to think of it, I believe New York is the name assigned to the larger political structure. A "state", I think it was?

Not which demon, just- the idea of a demon. The vampire. The hypothetical entity of the thing.

So, they're souless and demonic? I feel as if vampires are becoming less and less analogous to rainbow drinkers than I was previously led to believe.

Demonic in nature, maybe. Kind of a different classification, but- [ a beat ] Wait.. rainbow drinkers?

The proper term to describe my own particular classification.

Don't be silly. The language merely accounts for the variety of colors blood can take on my home planet. You're one color is almost boring by comparison!

We've got a variety of colors, they're just not found in humans. Not that i'd ever drink demon blood in the first place.

Well, in our case, the variety is within my native species, to the point that they'd even set a ridiculous caste system in place based upon the fact.

Based on the color of your blood.

Huh. Someone's always trying to be better than everyone else, imagine that.

And usually in the most insufferable ways, yes.

Just the natural order of things.

How's it work? What color blood-- [ wow, that even sounds ridiculous to him ] -- ranks the highest?

It runs from red to purple, perhaps even pink beyond that, so rather arbitrary and cyclical in fact. The highest caste I've encountered is tyrian violet, as owned by my friend Feferi.

Well, at least it would've been before the Porter gave her a more human body. Now, as far as I'm aware it's as scarlet as anyone else's.

The Porter can turn vampires back into humans.

I couldn't speak for other vampires, actually. You're the first I've spoken to, in fact! But I believe my status as an alien is more relevant to the transformation.

Wait, so you're a vampire and an alien? And you're still both of them... here. No chance you've turned into a human.
