( This is Damian. This is Damian in a black suit. This is Damian in a black suit standing next to Nill. Very awkwardly, it should be noted. He's following her line of sight and wondering if dancing is required. He sincerely hopes it is not. )

[This is Nill standing next to Damian, looking almost as awkward. But she's trying to make things better. She reaches out to gently touch his shoulder, wings fluttering behind her as she smiles. She gestures towards the dance floor; she did learn to dance just for him and prom, after all.]

[xuffasch]

( At her touch, he looks up at her, then at the dance floor, then back to her. There isn't much ambiguity there. )

You want to?

( His voice is level. Dancing--he can handle this. )

[brevipennate]

[Nill nods shyly. She wants to at least show him that she can dance, now.]

( He nods in return, then starts off towards the dance floor, hands in his pockets. No, Damian, that's not the way you ask someone to dance. )

[It's okay, she's used to that. Nill trails after him, doing her best not to fall in her heels; she was used to platforms and Mary Janes, not real heels.]

[xuffasch]

( Damian's version of dancing: standing utterly still on the dance floor until something else happens. It's suave, really. )

[She pauses in front of him, and reaches for one hand to place on her hip and the other to hold with hers, just like she learned in class.]

[xuffasch]

( He follows her movements, then begins to move in-time to the music. He's not good at this, exactly, but he has a good ear for rhythm. )

...you look nice. I guess I should mention.

[brevipennate]

[It's alright, she isn't the best at this either! But she doesn't have trouble following his lead.

At the compliment, she smiles and maybe blushes just a little. She nods to him; he looks nice, too.]

( He nods, lightly, but even while they dance he looks as though he's thinking very hard about something. )

You're having fun, right?

[And she lets him think; if it really is something important, she doesn't want to interrupt. When he asks her though, she looks a little surprised; apparently, there was something she wasn't very good at expressing with her big blue eyes. So she nods with a smile; then tilts her head at him, still smiling. Hopefully.]

( He still looks pretty serious, but after a moment he nods. The way the tension slowly drains out of him, you'd think he was worried about that. But that couldn't really be the case, could it? )

Well, good. I'm glad.

[brevipennate]

[That is good; she knew that this wasn't usually the sort of thing he'd do, but it meant a lot that he had gone with her. She can see that he looks a little more at ease, and her smile softens. At least he didn't hate being here.]

My father does things like this a lot. Going to parties, with dates. Dancing.

[The blonde tilts her head a little bit; she remembers hearing a little bit about his dad from when he was first in the City, but she doesn't recall exactly what it is. Her face questions: Who's his father?]
