Vic sees the guy enter the room, and can immediately figure he's not a cop. Most of them don't make enough to dress so well. But he's not an informant who Vic's ever met before, so he might as well ask.

"Freelancer?"

Sherlock turns at the voice and smiles pleasantly. His smile is getting such a workout, today.

"Consultant. You don't seem the career cop type, either."

Vic smirks and offers his hand in response. "Of course not, who needs the stress? Vic Sage, private investigator."

He shakes the hand firmly. Another practiced social grace. The smile is still ready.

"Sherlock Holmes, Consulting Detective."

He has to let out a chuckle to that. "Really. Heard you were in town, but I never figured you to be so young." Did he expect Basil Rathbone? Maybe a little.

There's a small flicker of something across Sherlock's face but it's gone in an instant. He still hasn't quite gotten used to the notoriety.

"Yes," He says wryly, "It's a common complaint. I was surprised to find that my reputation... preceded me, somewhat."

"Well, it's what, at least a hundred and twenty years in the public consciousness? Not many stories wind up as enduring like that."

Of course, looking at how much more modern Holmes is, Vic couldn't help wondering what else may vary with the interpretation. "That said, knowing the story doesn't mean we'd know the man. No telling what other expectations you might escape."

A hundred and twenty years. The previous Sherlock had come from 1895, which would explain the discrepancy, but... Part of him was simply happy that the man had not mentioned John.

Still, Sherlock could be no less than charming when he set his mind to it.

"I hope I will not disappoint."

"I expect you'll be as you as you can be. If you surprise people with it, then I guess they'll just have to be surprised."

Oh, he'll get to Watson eventually. But guessing how they relate to each other may depend on how the first operates. Those waters will need to be tested still.

"You know much about the outstanding cases? What do you make of them?"

"Very little." He glanced around the police department. "Only what has been posted on the Network. I haven't had a chance to look at the police reports yet. Hopefully that will be solved today."

He paused.

"Having meta-humans involved will likely force me to change my methods, somewhat."

"Some of us have more practice with that." Though actually being one of those metahumans is still pretty new.

Sherlock raises an eyebrow, glancing over Vic again, as if making a second assessment.

"Your universe included meta-humans, then? Was there a difference between them there, and here?"

"Well, for one, a lot of the people in our business weren't. I'd even bet we have more people from my world who only became meta when they got here than those who were already."

Especially with all those Gothamites running around.

"Interesting." Yeah he'd already got a nice little map of a few different worlds back on his board at the MAC...

"I was told that becoming Meta was forced for all the imPorts, however... Well." A small, forced, smile.

"Haven't found your own just yet?" Vic was lucky enough to discover his pretty quickly. But then little buzzings in your head can be hard to ignore.

"Quite." No, he was not bitter about this at all. Though, he had yet to discover John's either, which made him feel just a tag more smug about it. Perhaps it had something to do with the universe they were drawn from.

He offed a self-assured smile.

"However, I am certain I will be more than effective with or without powers."
