I'm mainly referring to the fact that the final confrontation with Sylar was less impressive and dramatic than Peter's previous and possible future fights. I felt that the Heroes finale was eclipsed by 5 years in the future and Company Man for intensity and action.
No, the correct Lost analogy to the Sylar fight would be if they brought the dynamite all the way back and then noticed "Oh wait, here's a latch that we missed earlier" and didn't use the dynamite that they had been building up to all season. Then, as they look down the hatch for the ending shot, it gets down to the bottom and reveals that it's just a pit of dirt that leads nowhere, and the camera pans over to reveal a second hatch that they haven't noticed yet and it has "The REAL hatch, suckers" printed on it.
That's not a good analogy. Has the main reason you've tuned in to Lost been to see Jack and Locke bitch each other out ONCE AND FOR ALL? And then instead of that argument, Hurley bitchslaps Jack and Jack says "Oh, Locke was right, let's NEVER ARGUE AGAIN!"
missed the first 4/5 of the finale bc of dinner with my dad. I couldn't pass that up and it was probably the best meal he and I have ever shared. but my point is, I'm on episode 4 of heroes and I'm plagued by the same thing. it's just not compelling or very interesting or at the very least, visually beautiful. I mean it's like they set out to make "the" superhero tv show. but when all their powers are implied or don't require any special effects, it's kinda boring to me. I was expecting something a little more.. fantastic? I'm going 2 more episodes before I forget about it or trot on.
There are better, more impressive episodes in the middle. bu the apex of the season of Heroes is not the high point, it's kind of an afterthough and the winding down of Hiro's big moment, three episodes prior to the finale. Episode 20 is the high point, and it shows you where they COULD have gone with the finale, but either chose not to or simply didn't have the budget left to equal or top it.
