I just saw that my last entry indicated that I'd be home in early september. How cute. Well, it's early september and guess if I'm still at SHAFT. I was all packed up and was actually yanked from a flight yesterday, 30 mins before the plane landed. I even got to hear it come in as I walked back to the FOB. I saw that it had been a while since I last posted. I'm still alive and here in Shins. Nothing new to report but the odd bug bite or two and I'm still, happily, malaria-free! I've moved! Since my last post the ETT team and the ANA company we're paired with have moved north from Herat to Qal-i-Naw. I'm now staying at a small Spanish FOB right in the middle of the city. The internet here is sketchy at best which makes checking email impossible most of the time, so I thought I might take advantage of the opportunity ( Read more... )

Whew...I just came back to IL after about 13 hours of straight driving and it feels good to be sprawled out on the floor. I took the time to get up and write this, but I'll be back on the ground soon...

My computer is still alive, but the same can't be said for my car. I just got done ordering a new starter for it and I'm trying to get myself in the mood for car repair.

I am currently on hold with Sprint, awaiting the chance to cancel my mobile service. There's an expected wait time of 20 minutes. This should be fun.
