Look, here are the facts for those of you who haven't been around that long:
1. Believe it or not, I am a Christian. I didn't say I'm a good one.
2. I have read the Bible from cover to cover. No skipping, even the "begats." From Genesis to Revelation, plus the different books not recognized by the majority of the Protestant churches.

Or am I reading something wrong? The article seems to be saying that what has been lacking in the whole evolution/creationism debate IS the Catholic viewpoint, which is that evolution is perfectly compatible with faith, and that Genesis should not be taken literally, as opposed to the more vocal non-Catholic Christian factions who have been trying to force school to teach Genesis as a literal alternative to the theory of evolution.

2) I enjoy reading your posts
3) If you want to talk some Augustine, I’m writing my thesis about him (well, sort of about him. It’s about some of the ideas in his works and where they came from).
4) The Language of God by Francis Collins is a book you might find interesting

I believe something when, after considering the evidence, and coming to a basic understanding, I come to think that it holds truth. What I meant was, it is my personal opinion that evolution is a real process based on limited analysis of scientific data and applied to my reasoning skills.
However... we agree on the points of actual evolutionary theory. I think our understanding of how evolution works is flawed. To me, there is no doubt that animals and plants evolve, but there are far too many missing pieces to the puzzle to answer the question of how and why they do this. Where are the mutated fossils? Where are the mutated humans? Where are the damned super mutant monkeys what can fling poop with their minds?!?!
To me, science does not disprove faith at all. It shows me how much of a miracle life really is.
And you are absolutely right about not focusing on where we've been, but where we're going. Even the Bible agrees with you!
