My friend in the US, she just moved there a few days ago, was telling me that some kid said; "Ching chang chong!" to her.

Friend: Ching chang chong!
Me: Heyy, there! Haven't spoken to you in ages! How are you? And what on earth is "ching chang chong"?
Friend: Some random kid came up to me, said it and ran away laughing.
Me: What? Why? It doesn't ( Read more... )

Ching Chang Cong is a different name for Rock Paper Scissors. I think it's pretty common in Germany (the name), but I didn't know it was in America.

O.o Really, that confuses me even more. Why on earth would people randomly tell her a band name?

Band? It's a game. :p You know, scissor beats paper, paper beats rock ... ect. Just google it. ... and why? Kids are silly. They probably saw your friend, somebody who is evidently from an Asian country and thought it would be funny to shout something at them that sounds "Asian"? Dunno.

oooo i see. -.- sorry, brain spaced out, lol.

Eh, so it's a racist thing. How inconsiderate and completely ignorant; considering that there are many 'types' of Asians. == 'ching chang chong' doesn't even exist as a phrase.

As ballion said it's another name for that game, so we usually say schnick, schnack, schnuck but in that situation it seems to be a bit out of place...

It's bloody offensive. We should rofl, say random words like "Book, coffee, idiots!" because that's basically what they're doing. ==

Oh, God, that's terrible.

What part of the US is she in, if you don't mind me asking? (Not that you don't find racist idiots everywhere, but I'm curious.)

Now that we've discovered what it means, yes, it's terrible. =.= And it seems as though the US is more racist than it portrays itself to be on TV. She was so looking forward to going there but now, she's started to resent it.

Sorry to butt in, I just wanted to read what others had to say about this business.
I honestly don't think that you should stereotype what a few idiots say down to "America". There are morons in EVERY country and it really shouldn't keep you from visiting them. Travelling is always an experience. Also, as somebody else has pointed out, there are states that are more racist and narrow minded than others.
I have been there three times and I think America is worth the visit if only for the amazing landscape and cities and of course the NOT-narrow minded people.

Sadly racism still exists in a big way. It's actually embarrassing that humans are such fucking idiots. In my city recently some guys were arrested for Klu Klux Klan behavior involving a burning cross on a local African immigrant family's yard.

It makes me infuriated and so incredibly disappointed in our world.

Gah, it's ridiculous that such mentality and believes can even exist with all the changes and progress we've made so far. Didn't education do anything? It makes me sad. :(
