I have to wonder...

Wednesday is not the domestic nurturing type. No babies, no playing house. Sometimes she plays with her play food, and lately if you give her a wet towel she'll do the dusting but that is it. She loves her dollies but the barbie and Tinkerbell variety, not the soft cushy kind. She loves her costumes and performing for an audience. What I am ( Read more... )

Nope. It's the kid's own personality. I have one that is very domestic and one that wouldn't notice if the house was on fire. Same mom for both :-)

Maybe she's just not domestic. When I was little, I loved baby dolls and playing house but my two years younger sister only really liked dressing up herself or dressing up barbies. And jewelry. She did like baby dolls that peed...but really only in the giggle-at-bodily-functions way.

Kids to emulate to some degree, but their inborn personalities come into play a lot. My SIL had eight kids. All she did for YEARS is cook, clean, and take care of babies. Only one of her kids is super into babies (if she sees a baby, she's right there making goo-goo eyes at it), and even that kid was never big on dolls.

I'm with the other commenters. Every kid has his/her own personality. I have never been a mommy-type. My mother tells me stories of my being little and not wanting anything to do with babies. I don't remember every wanting anything to do with baby dolls (I found them creepy, actually) and I have vivid preschool memories of the other girls trying to pressure me into being "married" to chris (my preschool boyfriend!) and me going, "uuuuuh, he can be my brother instead." Even when my sister was born, I would take care of her because it was necessary, and because she's my sister, but I don't remember ever wanting to mommy her at all.

I would not worry, I was a tomboy and never did any of that stuff either. Look at me now, I cook from scratch, have a garden, sew and quilt, and teach my kids....well, one of them, 'cause the other is graduated(WOO HOO!!).

Wednesday is too freakin' cute just like she is, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't change a thing about her! :)

Totally kids personality. My two are into completely different things and I am the same with both.
