- Do you typically enjoy films that are based off of books or do you avoid them? It really depends on the movie. Sometimes I'm indifferent because I haven't read the book or I'm not into the genre, but other times I love them - or at the very least, I enjoy them.
- Would you rather read the book or watch the movie first? Most of the time I prefer to read the book first. That does not always happen - in the case of Howl's Moving Castle and Divergent, for example, I saw the movies before I read either of the books, but usually it's the other way around.
- What are some example(s) of films or movies based on books that got it right? While I am a bit of a purist with Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings trilogy and the three Hobbit movies definitely got a lot right, even if I did take issue with some of what they did with the latter. Divergent seriously benefited from the expanded point of view. Tris as the narrator in the novel got on my nerves after the first book, but the movie really surprised me. Howl's Moving Castle is another ( ... )

Oh my gosh. Her voice was bad enough here - I can't imagine it being like that. I really hope that someone gets the rights and does a good adaption of it. Even with the issues I had with the third and fourth books I would totally see all of them if they did a good job adapting the series because they were pretty darn good books overall.

If I enjoyed a book, chances are, I'll see the movie. If only because I'm curious as to how they handled certain things and it's always cool to see your favorite scenes come to life. Also, it's cool when we're able to see other POVs, if a book is written in first person. For example, Divergent and the Hunger Games. Sometimes they are such a huge disappointment. *cough*Vampire Academy*cough* Which makes me sad because I LOVED those books and would have loved to have seen those storylines on the screen.

My favorite movies that were based off books, regardless to accuracy: The Princess Bride, The Hunger Games, Jurassic Park, Memoirs of a Geisha, Stardust!!!
My favorite TV shows that were based off books. Outlander, Haven, Legend of the Seeker, Blood Ties.

- Would you rather read the book or watch the movie first?Ehhhhh, this is always the thing! If you read the book first, then you're watching the movie going OMG, YOU LEFT THAT OUT. Reading the ( ... )

The best thing about any movie when you've read the book is seeing all the places and things come to life. (Of course, that can also be the worst part if they get it WRONG :p).

I actually enjoyed the Vampire Academy movie (more than I thought I would at any rate). I've never read the books though.

They rushed their way through the VA movie. There were so many cool things that they cut out, like.. the mystery actually went deeper and we learned more of the history, etc. They really had a lot to cram into 1 movie. That series is SO good, even though Rose can really get annoying a lot of the time.

I am SO enjoying Outlander even though, due to ease of filming, they are chaaaaaaanging thiiiiiiiings and UGH. I'll live through it.

I suppose the good thing about not having read the books means I don't know what I'm missing out on. :p

Outlander... I never had the urge to read the books. The time travel aspect sounds cool, but everything I know about these books points to them being all about that guy, and that's just not my kind of story.

I depends on what it is. It really has to do with the subject matter first and then, if the book is already out, if it's worth my time. I've read first two HP in the series read before I saw the first movie. For The Maze Runner the subject matter wasn't THAT interesting to me and I heard that the series went downhill as it went on so I stuck with watching the movie instead. It's really hit or miss with me. I don't have a lot of time/attention to put into reading a book so if I can watch the movie I'll probably do that instead, as sorry as it is to say. My enjoyment of the film often has little to do with the book itself because, odds are, I'm not going to know the difference.

If I'm going to put the effort in I'd rather read the book first but there are too many factors and I feel like a lot of the time I'm just setting myself up for heartbreak and two hours of, "That's NOT how it happened!"

I couldn't even make it through the movie for Blood and Chocolate. That book was SO GOOD! I should give it a reread soon because it's been a really long time.

Definitely disappointed!!!

I was told to not read the other two Maze Runner books. I'll see the movies, because Dylan, but yeah. What Dylan DID manage to do, was make me not hate Thomas as much, though. I hated him in the books. Always the problem when a book is in first person.

God yes. Like, I get the benefits but when you've got something like Twilight (which I didn't bring up at all because that's just a whole other kettle of fish, let's face it) and Bella Swan as your narrator you're lucky you don't pitch yourself over the side of a bridge by the time you're done listening to her complain and whine and second guess everything.

I've never read or seen any of the Twilight books/movies soooo yeah, no idea besides sparkling, pissing contests, and gross birthing practices. Staying far away.

Mocking Jay was really hard for me to get through because the first half of the book was Katniss being a teenager. Total LACK of information there.
