Slight question

Sep 08, 2009 21:15

Is it just me, or was it unbearably cold today? The weather forecast said it should be seasonally warm, but I didn't feel any of it.
I'm sitting here wearing my thickest sweater with a scalding hot cup of chamomile, and I just can't seem to stop shivering.

And yes, the thermostat is dialled up, but it's not like that ever worked in the first

Dude. Don't tell me YOU'RE getting sick, too! D:

But, yeah, I think it's been kind of cold lately. All of this nightly rain we've been having is messing with the chill factor and all that. NOT A METEOROLOGIST! JUST A CARDIOLOGIST! Almost!

I think I've just caught a slight chill, that's all. It'll clear up once I get some rest, perhaps.

Hah! Don't talk to me about rain and cold. I've fared far worse.

Right now, headcolds FTW. Compared to this other crap going around...

I'm sure you have. XD I'm more used to heat.

If I had any sense of foresight, I would've gotten some chicken stock while I was out at the shops yesterday. I don't know quite what makes it work, but homemade chicken and rice soup always does the trick.
I don't know if there even would be a folk remedy for whatever that is.

I can put up with just about anything, unless it gets to the extremes like it does during summers over here. Today is just very, very, very cold for early September.

I know we haven't spoken much, but I'm currently stuck in the hospital and that's exactly how my symptoms started. That and I was being extremely bitchy to everyone... I hope you aren't getting sick!

But, to answer your question, yes it's cold!

Really, now? That doesn't make me feel any more comfortable. Don't tell me that feeling very sleepy at all hours of the day is another symptom...

I know. I had to run home and grab my winter scarves early this morning. It feels like it should in December, not in bloody September.

Are you kidding me? I'm sweating my butt off in here, how can you be cold? Just looking at you sitting there wrapped up is making me feel worse. D:

(Haha, I know it's dumb to be replying when we're... lol IN THE SAME ROOM, but whatever.)

I'm terribly sorry, Vaan. I'm just so cold I don't know what else to do. I can't take a steaming hot shower, because those simply don't exist in these dorms. The soup is helping a tad, but I'm vaguely considering sitting in front of the oven for warmth.
You're also more than welcome to some soup, if you want.

It is rather silly, isn't it? You probably wouldn't be able to make out what I'm saying through my scarf, though.

Hey, don't sweat it, man. I'm not gonna blame you for feeling sick. :\ If you like... need anything, just tell me.

Well, for me it's more like I'm too darn lazy to talk when I can type, but...yeah.

No, I'm fine, really, I am. Thank you, though. Aeris is on her way over, if you don't mind.

Not only would my speech be inaudible, it would take energy, none of which I seem to have. I've been napping on and off for a while, but it doesn't seem to do anything for me.

I couldn't tell you if it's cold or not, mate. I'm in a controlled 'habitat', as it were. I swear, I've been here so long I've become an attraction for the kids talking strolls down from pediatrics. Nothing more exciting than seeing a pirate after having pins put in your leg, so I've been told.

But hey, at least I'm getting exercise now. It's a move up from being cooped up indoors all the time.

Please tell me you're doing the stereotypical "pirate" accent when they stop by.

I don't mind not being outdoors. It's even colder outside, and that requires moving, which is something I don't feel I could quite do right now.

While normally I abhor pandering to ancient stereotypes about the manner in which a pirate carries themselves, I have grown so bored in my semi-incarceration that I have adopted the accent for the sake of entertaining the youngsters. I also have a hat, a patch and a stuffed toy parrot, all of which I found in the gift store on the ground floor. I'm working on turning a coat hanger into a pirate's hook before I saw off the leg on the table across the room for my peg leg.

Looks like it's going to get you, old man. Keep an eye on yourself, and if it gets worse you'll have to hand yourself in. I hear that's the done thing with this particular illness. I'm spending my time in the physio center in the hospital. Means I get my 'walkies' (as Fran so nicely puts it) without bringing a plague upon the others around me.

That's a wonderful idea, and I'm sure the children all adore you, but what will you use to saw off the table leg? A butter knife?

No, I'm not going to get sick. All I have is just a little chill. It'll clear up in a few.
And besides, I can't go to hospital. All my insurance will cover is three days' stay. Anything else would be out of pocket.

I hope I'm not sick. But, with the way my luck's running, and how I've been chilled for two whole days, I have a sinking feeling that I am.
I truly hope it's not both at once. That'd be awful.

Why would I ever object to your company, dearest?

Once all of this madness clears up, there's a place I have to take you to. No one knows of it besides me, I'm certain, not even Balthier. I think you'd like it there. We have to go before the frost hits, though.

I hope it has a cure, or at least it's some sort of virus, where it'll run its course and then be gone.
Thank you for stopping by, though. You wouldn't happen to have a thicker blanket, would you? I've used both of the quilts and I'm still freezing. That is, if you don't mind me using it.

You're right, it was bad form for me to not consider that. But I think we'll both be fine, dearest.

Lovely! You'll love this place, you truly will.
