New York in August, instead of June.
Street Sense is going to skip running in the June 9th Belmont Stakes at Belmont Park (details in a Blood Horse article well worth reading) and aim for the Travers Stakes at Saratoga in August. Since there is no Triple Crown on the line, Carl Nafzger and owner Jim Tafel are giving Street Sense a chance to rest up from the tough back-to-back races ( Read more... ) -

Preakness Day
Today is the Preakness, the second leg of the Triple Crown. Street Sense arrived in Maryland on Wednesday, and we arrived last night, just in time to have a fine crabcake dinner.
We are heading to Pimlico racetrack in a couple hours, so I won't be blogging any more until after the race. Street Sense is favorite to win, he has the number eight post ( Read more... ) -
Numerology
There's plenty of post-Derby articles to read right now, such as Calvin Borel going to Washington to have dinner with W and the Queen, and speculation about who will win the upcoming Preakness. Here's nice Louisville Courier-Journal article about Carl becoming only the 18th trainer to win more than one Derby.

We got back home yesterday, dog tired but what an experience! Here's a tidbit I was going to post about while in Louisville but ran out of time:

On The Way Home
We are headed home...be back this afternoon. We get a few days to rest up and then we are flying to Baltimore to watch Street Sense run in the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico. I love Pimlico...it's old and funky and has lots of character. And I don't want to miss the possibility of Street Sense winning the second leg of the Triple Crown ( Read more... )
