Have no idea what was happening during the pirate lord council. And who got the piece that Beckett had (that the boy had at the beginning of the movie)? If they had to rescue Jack because they needed his piece to convene the council, then how did they convene without the piece Beckett had?
I don't think that was an actual official piece. It was, after all, a real piece of eight, and the pieces the pirate lords had were whatever they had on them at the time, as they were all broke.
I got sidetracked by that coin myself, because I thought the boy at the beginning looked like Johnny Depp, so it was supposed to be a young Jack Sparrow and that first scene was a flashback. I thought the coin was one of the cursed ones from the first movie. I realised partway through I was mistaken on that, though.
