Icon Story Meme

Because I'm bored, I've decided to create my own meme.

Reply with your favorite (or not) icon I've made and I'll tell you a little about WHY I made it and the process that went into making it (not a tutorial but an interesting story about the process - if there is one).

Only one or two icons per person and reply with each icon in a separate ( Read more... )

Oh no, the Wincest icon! You know when I made it, it wasn't suppose to be Wincest-y. This is from back when Sam/Dean slash was just getting popular and everyone assumed that's what that icon was about.

I really wanted to show the guilt Sam felt for turning on Dean and actually shooting his own brother. And the moment when he looks over at Dean sleeping said so much! I couldn't figure out how to crop that icon because their beds were so far away and you couldn't see Sam's expression clearly. So I blended two screencaps together and voila! It looks like they're "sleeping" together. *facepalm*

Oh well, I guess this is a perfect example of art taking on a life of its own :P

I wish I could take credit for the lighting in this one but that's the work of the wonderful crew on SPN :)

But I did know the instant I saw the image that I wanted the light shining through the blinds to be the center of the icon. From there it was a bit of a battle to decide how much of Sam I wanted to show. But I went with the idea of balance, half Sam & half light. And not adding text was a no-brainer. The icon says everything itself.

Hmm. I didn't really do much with that icon. The imagery of the light shining down on the graves and Dean was just too beautiful for me to resist! Even the green color was an accident. I first wanted to brighten it up so I used a light yellow color on overlay but then for contrast I burned a blue color over it. I guess it works in the end.

This is an example of one of those icons that just "happen".

This is one of my most favorite icons of all time, and certainly my favorite Dean one.

That one was requested by someone so I don't have a reason for picking the image. But Dean's smile just speaks volumes. He looks so carefree and un-jaded here that I knew I wanted the icon to be colorful. So after I cleaned-up and sharpened the image, I enhanced the green color in his shirt & the orange in the back to bring out the joy in his face. That's about it!

*points to icon* This is one of my favorite Dean icons you've made because it involves the sexy Impala too. He he.

I was so broken up over the accident in the S1 finale that seeing Dean fix the car himself in S2 was like ... I really don't have a word for it. It was just perfect. The Impala symbolizes everything to him so fixing it was like putting his life back together.

I originally wanted to include both a wide shot of Dean under the car and a close-up of him working on it but once I started making it, I thought it would look better if there was an image of what it use to look like instead. As if Dean was remembering it.

This is definitely one of my favourite icons that you've made too. I love the picture merging and the symbolism and everything. ♥

I cannot believe that my favorite icon of all that you have made is not a Supernatural icon, but it is actually this one I am using!

I like this one too!

I originally had no white space in this icon but as I was working on it, I realized that it was missing something. So I moved the image down and having Peter looking up at white space just seemed to work.

The text was a bit difficult to decide on but that's when the thesaurus comes in handy :D And the birds. I really wanted to use a birds brush on an icon of Peter but it never worked and this was just the perfect opportunity.
