The tooth I was talking about earlier in the week had to be pulled yesterday.  There wasn't enough good tooth left to build a new crown over. I was very sad about it, because I try so hard and still the dental problems come.  In addition to that, I was terrified that I would have another problem with clotting like I did a few years ago. I don't ( Read more... )

Bummer about the tooth but glad it clotted properly. When I had my wisdom teeth out my body went into shock and I threw up messing up my clots. I ended up with dry socket on two of them, it was terrible. Once they packed them, I had instant relief though (but of course I waited a couple days in between thinking I was supposed to be in excruciating pain.)

My sister and I were talking about our various dental experiences the other day and wonder....if the packing, stitches, and cautery provide the instant relief needed for these situations...why don't they just do it to start with? I asked the doctor if he would cauterize my tooth area immediately the other day because I was so terrified of the clotting problem. He wouldn't do it, although he did observe me longer than usual...but I wonder why they won't. Maybe it is something to do with the healing process, but it just seems like it would save people some pain and suffering in some cases.

oh my GOD that sounds terrifying! I had surgery when I was younger on a tooth that wouldn't come down and I swallowed so much blood that it made me sick, and I'm still a little traumatized. I had a lot of dental surgeries - my poor parents. I had really messed up teeth.

Glad you didn't have to go through another liver clot experience! (I'm so tempted to google it but I'm also scared).

I googled it and came up with some pretty nasty pictures, but none that really do the experience justice. It was truly the nastiest thing ever, and that includes the wisdom tooth surgery, and child birth.

Yikes, I'm glad you didn't have any clotting problems this time. That sounds extreme!

I had never heard of liver clots but they sound terrifying! I can understand your feeling worried about another teeth surgery, I would have been scared of that happening again. I hope you're feeling better today and less swollen :)
