"Intelligent Design" is just a code word for creationism dressed up in fake science. This only belongs in a religion or philosophy class, where it is compared to other mythologies, scrutinized, and evaluated critically. Since it has absolutely NO factual scientific basis whatsoever, it does not belong in a science class, which is presented as factual evidence.
The faith-based world is totally different than the reality-based world.

Although my humble opinion may mean little here, I do not think it is particularly abhorrent to allow different points of view to be expressed within a reasonable and non-Scopes trial-ish environment. Especially since scientists hardly ever agree on anything, much like all types of experts. That doesnt mean I am in favor of teaching Genesis in biology- it doesnt belong there. But many major concepts (even the Big Bang!) are still points of debate among scientists. But anyhow....
By the way, congrats on your babies. I have been out of the LJ loop for awhile...

don't be silly, it doesn't mean little. i value my friends opinions on such topics, and it's a very interesting debate.
i just don't think that it belongs in public schools (being taught alongside evolution), and i dunno if we ever will learn how the universe was created, but the closest thing to fact that we have on the matter is evolution.
i always said that i would rather have a blind faith than no faith at all, and it's how i see it. i do believe in God, but i will never know for sure (until i die perhaps), so it's blind to me, but i would rather grab onto that faith and have something to believe in. i mean - this can't be all there is...
ya know. :) and thanks! i hope everything is going well for you.
