Fortune readings can be used by players to affect or predict an idea for an upcoming plot or event. As long as the player is specific about what they're asking for or has planned out the purpose of their reading, these readings can have there purposes.
Luck predictions have varying effects on characters, these are randomly selected by the NPC Crew, and the predictions will vary from positive or negative effects on characters. Players who chose their luck to be predicted must agree to accept whatever effects are chosen for them prior to asking the Fortune Teller for her services. After a luck prediction is made, characters are stuck with the effects of the prediction until the effect wears off. The length of luck predictions usually last for twenty-four hours but may span a few weeks or affect how characters will be effected by events.
Sometimes, going to the Fortune Teller will not have any affects on your character. If say, only affected event characters are afflicted with jealousy and her prediction is, "Your strong emotions will cause you to gain a decent boost in your strength" and your character is not affected by the event, then your character will gain nothing from her services. Likewise to characters who are affected and the prediction is, "Being true to yourself has impressed the gods. You will be blessed with good fortune today." then those characters will not receive any of the Fortune Teller's benefits. The specifics will clearly be written out for players during the reading.
However, going to the Fortune Teller may result in bad luck for characters, as well, so sometimes it's better not to have her services done. There can be instances where a character will gain a benefit and a negative affect.
Other times, characters who go to the fortune teller may be given special benefits or advantages over other characters for future plots. If characters come in groups, there is a possibility that the fortune reading may affect more than the character getting their fortune read, so keep this in mind should you decide to ask/accompany another character to the shop.
The NPC Crew will already have prepared a list of effects for the day, and randomly chose an order to hand the predictions out to characters before the day for fortunes has begun.
The normal fee is self-explanatory, however, during certain events, the Fortune Teller will charge more for her services for a good reason.
The Fortune Teller cannot curse or alter a character, but her services may affect characters who are and aren't affected by an event or an on-going plot for a short period of time. In the future, the Fortune Teller may offer more services.
The number of characters who can have their fortunes read will be listed in the calendar. Even if the max number of people has been reached, the Fortune Teller will still be available for conversation.

Fortune readings will cost characters 3 Dice.
Luck predictions will cost characters 7 Dice.
