I'm melting. Melting!!!

I've come to the conclusion after spending a week in Virginia with no power, storms, and 90-104F days with 80-90% humidity that all these idyllic depictions of new-world settlers in woodcuts, paintings, drawings etc. were bull...er baloney. Call it one of the first documented cases of 'spin'.

In most of what I've read about Colonial Williamsburg, the settlers of Jamestown were miserable in the cold of Winter and even more miserable in the heat and humidity of Summer. It's why I've never seriously considered living in that state (politics aside) or Washington,DC. I hope you're doing okay. Do you have to stay there long?

About the only good governmental idea Virginia ever had was planting wildflowers in road medians to save on mowing and upkeep. The wildflowers keep the grasses in check, and put on quite a show from spring to fall.

I've been hearing about the awful heat and how a storm knocked out power to many during all this. Hope y'all survive in one piece.

We did. Funny thing now is that I'm driving along with my windows down, outside temp reading 92 and thinking, "hmm, bit chilly with these windows down."

Hope you are hanging in there. I suppose it isn't nice to tell you LA is having a cool summer.
Hugs!
