Yeah so can someone tell me how this past semester was my best so far at college? I made Dean's List, which I havent done since my first semester at school, Fall 03. And this GPA is higher than that one was. Considering my courses this semester were harder than usual, and I had the additional work of finding an internship, this is a nice surprise. I saw a few jock-looking guys in shorts and Addidas sandals at WM's graduation, but yeah, I love how everyone is mostly dignified there and actually cares about getting an education.

I just finished reading a book by and anthro prof who spent a year living as a college freshman to do some "participant observation" on college culture. A lot of her analysis resonted with me, except for the bit about classes. Apparently at her school, people cut class in the FIRST WEEK (wtf?) and never discuss academics with their friends. Unlike WM, where that is ALL we talk about. And that's why I love it.

Thanks for that news, Anthro buddy! Yeah, I know we are the exception to the rule of college experience. But I guess over the years I just got so used to the way W&M is that other colleges just seem weird. I know we have SOME goof-balls, but definately less than other school. And that whole frat-boy-Animal-House persona has always irritated me, and Syracuse definately had alot of those types!

Yo, I'm actually about to finish The Da Vinci Code (I should've technically had it done days ago, but after almost a day straight of reading, I needed a few days for my eyes @_@). So I'll probably be seeing it this weekend as well.

Your account of Billy Joel's speech reminds me of Will & Grace lady doing my high school graduation (incidentally, I wore flip flops to the ceremony) where she was just kind of annoying and read something off of the back of our program. At least he sang--although why couldn't it have been Uptown Girl!

Yeah, see, we werent allowed to wear flip-flops for high school graduation, and I guess I thought thats how every graduation was....guess not! Yeah, it was cool to hear a "Billy Joel Original", but I was really hoping for some Piano Man action myself.
