My dad and I were discussing what should happen with Hodgson. It's not the Liverpool way to sack managers after only a few bad results, and the last thing we need is more instability. I'd like to see what Hodgson does in the winter transfer window, for one thing ( Read more... )

Sometimes I just want to walk into the locker room and lecture everybody. Tell them how much their success means to supporters halfway across the world and to PLEASE AT LEAST TRY TO WIN, DAMMIT. But alas, rants on LJ shall have to suffice. For now.

You said it so well. Football used to make me happy, and I was actually hoping the boys might, idk, find some miracle against everton yesterday. Should've just gone to do my homework like I was supposed to instead of spending 94 minutes between screaming, cringing and sighing.

Idk what hope we have left til Janurary. Until then I guess we'll just have to pray hard and hope that it doesn't get to the point of being unsalvageable.

Thanks. I wish I didn't have to say it at all.

Yeah, that's my main concern, too. We can't still be languishing in the relegation zone in January. That's just beyond unacceptable.

Well thought. You should manage them. Seriously. Couldn't do much worse.

And although it's not the Liverpool Way, I wouldn't be entirely surprised if Roy got sacked before end of season. New owners are a good excuse for sure and obviously it's not working. Henry is not the type to want to spend his first few years fighting back from relegation.

Thanks. Let's face it, the qualifications required for the job seem to be pretty low. ;)

It sounds horrible, but I hope that you're right about that. I hope that Henry and co. know/learn enough about the game to see that our problems are many and quite structural. This should be rock bottom for us; we shouldn't be waiting to see if it gets even worse. I mean, we're supposed to be fighting for the title!

This should be rock bottom for us. I agree with this so much. We have to start climbing from here. We can't lose to more lower half teams on the league and fly out of the Europe League after the group stage. It would be so devastating.

I know, is Hodgson waiting for us to hit 20th before he realises that it's time to change?

Hodgson says, "I refuse to accept that we were in any way outplayed or any way inferior."

This type of attitude is distressing. It's, like, really? His post-match talks are always in this defensive, kind of delusional vein, and it's obviously failing to help in any way. He/we just look stupid.

The January transfer window will surely be heartbreaking.

I hope this is not a "Cheer up, the worst is yet to come" situation.

Pretty much. 'Delusional' is unfortunately apt. I just don't get his inexplicably low standards. If 19th in the league isn't a crisis, I don't know what is. Is he waiting to get to 20th? And if you fail to admit when you've played badly, you're never going to be able to improve.

I agree with you so so very much. What he says is compltetey detached from reality.

Hodgson says so much bullshit it's unbelievable. I can't listen to him anymore. We played like complete and utter shit yesterday. We played against Everton which was in the 17th or 18th place before this game and they ran us over. They crushed us like little ants. We played horrible.

And it's not Torres' fault as Hodgson had the fucking nerve to say. There is no midfield! How does he supposed that the ball will get to Torres? Yes, he's problem, yes, he's having a bad time, but still, with a better team behind him he would be much better. I agree that Masch is a terrible loss. Also Benayoun. And Hodson didn't buy good enough players for this team and its situation. I'm really glad he bought Raul and Cole, but other then that I'm not too impressed with the rest of his buyings rn.

I agree with most of what you wrote, though I do want Hodgson to go. I know sacking a manager in the middle of the season is not so good for a club, but I don't see him turning this around. I don't think he fits this club too much.

Sorry for the long rant.

I totally agree, I have always thought Hodgson to be a very bad fit. I want him to go as well, but since I just don't see it happening, I figured I'd base my argument around what we should do with him as manager.

He really needs to change if he stays. He can't keep living in denial and acting as though these performances are good enough for such a historically successful club. He needs to raise his standards and play more attacking football (not the kind of defensive shit that he's used all his career, managing smaller teams). You're right, bringing in the likes of Poulsen and Konchesky just isn't good enough for Liverpool. (Look at the flack that Rafa, quite fairly, got for signing people like Dossena and Voronin! It's the same thing.) But the fact that Hodgson seems so unwilling to change makes all of my preaching seem quite futile.

This article sums it up quite well. And the way he spoke to that Norwegian journalist? What the fuck, what a dickhead. You don't go around speaking about countries like that, for one thing, and you ( ... )

What did he say?

I agree with you. I watched LFCTV yesterday night and there was a show where people called and ranted about the club. Everyone said pretty much the same and they said what everyone keep saying in forums etc. I agree with them all but what's sad is that Roy doesn't listen to all of this. I think the supportes are pretty much united in their opinions rn, but Roy just doesn't give a fuck. He doesn't want to admit that he's wrong.

I feel the pain of every Liverpool supporter. I don't feel like it's just my pain, which makes it even worse. Liverpool have the best supporters in the world. I pretty much believe that they actually managed to lift up the spirits of the players in Istanbul and helped them to win it. They kept singing even when we're losing 3-0. We deserve much much more from the manager and the players.

A journalist asked him about the fact that Torres wasn't getting much supply, and Hodgson asked, "Are you Danish?" When the journalist said that he was in fact Norwegian, Hodgson said, "Ah, two countries that I never want to work in again." Classy, no?

Wow, you know shit's hit the fan when people phoning in on LFCTV are frustrated about the club. LFCTV is usually a forum for happy-club propaganda. ;)

I totally agree with you. I feel as though the Liverpool supporters are really hard done by. We give them everything, and we're getting nothing back right now. I feel especially bad for the local fans, the ones who rock up at Anfield for every home match.
