First off, I wanted to say thanks to everyone who came by to leave a comment about City of Fallen Angels, or ask a question, or who came to a signing, or who just read a copy of the book! Thanks to you guys, City of Fallen Angels was #1 on the New York Times series bestseller list (which is a tough list to get onto, since it counts the sales of ( Read more... )

Just felt compelled to point out in the profile picture Simon's shoulder is on the wrong side of Clary:)

that would be because the whole picture is flipped. Clary's face is angled the other way too.

Wow!...Are you serious?!? Haven't you ever seen pictures being "flipped over" before?

Cool. Thanks for the post.

I am especially relieved by this: "Jace has spent much of his life fretting that he isn't worthwhile, that he doesn't deserve Clary, etc. and so on; he was still grappling with those issues at the end of City of Glass. Without a trial by fire, he will never be rid of those issues. Clary loving him and thinking he is good is helpful, but it is not everything. He must come to the conclusion that he is good on his own for it to matter, and if he must experience evil first to have that realization, then that is his arc." I was getting nervous that he would never ever be able to value himself, because it just seems like the poor guy keeps finding new reasons to hate himself, but I have a little more hope for some Jace-self-respect now.

*waves Malec flag* They are my favorites.

*waves Izzy flag* I liked her development in COFA a lot.

*waves Jordan flag* I looooooooooved him. He was a great addition to the cast.

This was very enlightening, thank you!! Although I have to ask, (even though I know you'll just say that I have to wait & see or it wouldn't be as exciting, there needs to conflict for there to be peace etc. but..) your comment "But yes, killing Sebastian will kill Jace - and vice versa." WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!? Doesn't Sebastian eventually have to be killed in order for the series to end well(unless he just goes away & disappears, which i find almost impossible) Are you saying that in order for this bad guy to go away, JACE has to die too?! Can't the Silent Brothers/Iron Sisters seperate them somehow?! Jace isn't going to sacrifice himself to kill Sebastian is he?!!!? (because although that would be very noble, I would probably cry & never get over it.)

Just a thought, but if Sebastian is controlling Jace then he probably wont allow Jace to kill himself. Sebastian is cunning, i'm sure he will have accounted for that possibility (especially considering Jace's self-sacrificing nature).
I could be wrong though....

Unless there is hope for Johnathan/Sebastian's reformation? I don't think that has been ruled out...

I don't think it has either, hopefully he will & get out of Jace's head. & to the previous comment. Yes, I doubt Sebastain would let Jace hurt himself, but if someone else went & killed/hurt Sebastian, then JACE would get hurt as well. So the there would be almost no point in hurting him until they somehow seperate Jace & Sebastian. & I refuse to believe, (ok, more like desperately, desperately wish) that Cassie Clare would kill off Jace.

Thanks for that great answer post Cassie! I loved CoFA (even if I was devastated by the ending). But, I have complete and total faith that TMI cycle 2 will be just as amazing (and probably even more so) than cycle 1. Thank you for all the amazing effort you put into connecting to your fans and answering our endless questions. Thank you for giving us two books a year. That in and of itself is amazing, and we fans don't give you enough props for that. Thank you for building an amazing fantasy world and characters that we love and adore enough to talk to you about them as though they are real people. I'm a forty year old mom of two young boys, and I love these books like no other in my collection. You are awesome!

What a fantastic comment!
It wonderfully sums up everything I feel and want to say to Cassie about this answer post as well as every word she has ever shared with us.
I also am a 34 year old mother of one. Reading has been my passion since I was a kid and I love this series more than any other book I've ever read.

Love, Mina.

I'm so glad you said this! I'm a 47 year old English teacher with two grown children, and I am totally, absolutely, completely engrossed in this beautiful world Ms. Clare has created! Teaching 10th graders, I read a LOT of YA fiction, especially fantasy. My kids have been suggestion TMI to me for a while, so once summer came around, I bought them all and WOW! I'm hooked :)
