I am especially relieved by this: "Jace has spent much of his life fretting that he isn't worthwhile, that he doesn't deserve Clary, etc. and so on; he was still grappling with those issues at the end of City of Glass. Without a trial by fire, he will never be rid of those issues. Clary loving him and thinking he is good is helpful, but it is not everything. He must come to the conclusion that he is good on his own for it to matter, and if he must experience evil first to have that realization, then that is his arc." It wonderfully sums up everything I feel and want to say to Cassie about this answer post as well as every word she has ever shared with us.
I also am a 34 year old mother of one. Reading has been my passion since I was a kid and I love this series more than any other book I've ever read.
Love, Mina.
