Orientation

Aug 05, 2005 03:35

Well, things are going interestingly at orientation. I met my roomie...who seems to be...energetic. So much so in fact that she bruised my arm with her constant dragging me around--literally. Seems she's so excited about things that she doesn't trust me to follow along on my own. I'm not sure she likes me so much. But I've met friends of hers, Read more... )

"Well," I grin and duck my head. "I'll try and stop by. I don't party much but it could be fun." He seems nice. Jan is talking to the new girl about classes. I catch the tale end of a comment,"Astronomy? "

I look over to the new girl, and wave with a smile. "Yes, I was telling your friend that she should take it." I say.

"Would that mean lots of night homework?" That almost sounds fun. Something to think about for my science requirement. I had been thinking biology. " Are you taking it?" I ask. and as an afterthought, "I'm Amanda, by the way." aeh. I sound awkward. I really need to work on that social thing.

I smile warmly at her. "I'm Cassie, it's nice to meet you, and no. But I'm sure you two would have fun with it. At least you wouldn't have to worry about keeping the other up with the late night homework." I say. I can see them quizzing each other on constellations.

"Sophie!!" I cry, smiling widely at her and giving her a big hug. "You made it, awesome!!" I smile happily. "That's Casey, she's like my roomie. I can't believe I didn't get to room with any of you guys!!" I say, rolling my eyes at this atrocity. "How lame can you get? Anyways, now that you're all here, I have the best surprise EVER!" I say, smiling at Janice, Sophie, and Amanda. "Oh wait, Dawn isn't here yet!! Where is she?" I look around for her. She's included.

When Sophie approaches and gets grabbed by Cecile, I feel a pang of sympathy for her. Well, that's a step in the right direction, isn't it? Maybe I can do the maturity thing, after all. Meeting the really cute Wyatt hadn't hurt. I smile and wave at her, and attempt to draw her away from Cecile's clutches. "Heh, it's pretty crazy here today, huh? Are you going on the campus tour next? I haven't seen Dawn yet, I hope she's not lost," I ramble a little aimlessly.

"Yeah, I totally didn't realize how crowded it was gonna be," I say, trying to keep the normal vibe going. "Or how much junk they were gonna pass out to us, Wyatt had to get me a bag 'cause I forgot my backpack." I nod toward our new friend.

I laugh. "Hmm, maybe I should start planning now to marry some rich guy, huh? Just to be on the safe side," I joke. "I dunno, I guess something will turn up along the way. Hey, have you met Cassie? She's going to be Cecile's roommate, she seems really nice."

"Yeah, she's living in her own little world, I think," I say, rolling me eyes. "I don't know how we suddenly becam the bestest of friend in her mind."

Well I'm still standing behind the booth, watching the girls catch up and interact. It seems there's yet another one they know, Sophie, who from her accent must be from England. She and Janice are carrying on a conversation and when they mention my name and look over at me, I smile and just sort of wave, not wanting to interupt. Then, walking around the table I start to walk over to the water fountain that's not too far.

Oh my god! It's so perfect, he's going off on his own!! I go to follow, 'accidentally' bumping into his arm with my chest. "Oh I'm so sorry." I say, laughing. "Like, I had a question, is there a sister sorority for your fraternity?" I ask, looking up at him with a big smile.

Something I just figured out? Trying your best not to cringe is very difficult. She had to follow me. Super. And worst of all, she does the whole giggly bump into me deal, which is just more annoying. Though her question is valid, I guess. Truthfully, I was thinking about it but haven't really looked into it yet. "Er, not sure yet, Cecile. Maybe in the future."

"Oh really? Because if you need any help, totally feel free to just call me, cuz my mom was in a sorority when she was in college, and so like, I know all about it and could be a super help." I say. He's so hot.
