It's getting closer to when school is going to start, and I'll be going to Dad's to stay with him until the semester starts. It's closer, and mom's leaving on a business trip of some kind, and won't be around anyway. I could have stayed home alone, but I think Dad's drinking got worse when I moved away with mom, so I'm going to go spend some ( Read more... )

I'm just sitting at the Espresso Pump, drinking an iced something. Mocha I think, when a boy catches my eye. He's one of those people that I get flashes for immediately. Something's hurting him, and it's going to hurt worse later. Soon. Poor thing. Oh and something more immediate. He was sitting there for a while, I think, then I see him get up. I stand up and head over towards him, grabbing hold of his elbow and pulling him up off of the curb as a car narrowly misses him. I don't think I'd like to see him flattened today, like he could have been. "Hey..." I say with a smile. "You should watch where you're going." I say with a friendly tone of voice.

I smile. "It's okay. You've got a lot on your mind." I say. "I'm Cassie...are you going somewhere in particular or do you think you want to sit back down for a few minutes while you clear your head?" I ask. "You can come join me if you'd like...want soome iced mocha?" I offer him my drink. "I think it's a little too much for me."

I laugh. "Is Sunnydale High still as weird as it was when I was there? I was sorta happy not to be going there anymore, even though I sorta miss the area. Guess that's why I don't mind being back. That must be why you're familiar. You're not that much younger than me. I must have seen you around school." I say, glad to have that covered. I think he was always really quiet, if I'm remembering right. Not that he seems to be very loud now.

I give him a soft smile. "It doesn't." I say. "But we can continue to deal with it, I suppose." I wonder if I have anything else random I can come up with to say. I'll have to think.
