Summary: AU: All Jensen wanted was a nice month at the beach. What he got was an over-affectionate seal that happens to turn into a hot guy when no one else is around. Jared makes Jensen’s summer better than he ever could have expected, but when his vacation is up and he has to return to the real world, Jensen finds that he's fallen in love with someone who can only truly love the ocean.

"Uh, hi?" Jensen tries, not moving for fear of spooking the little guy.
It draws closer, like it's angling for a kiss, and Jensen laughs,
rubbing his nose against the seal's affectionately.
Jensen still heads down to the shore in the morning for a run, and it's like the seal knows. Sam is waiting there for him every morning.
There's a shadowy figure directly across from his house, standing on the jagged rocks above the water, hard to distinguish any features, but decidedly human-shaped.
Jensen tries to run to the seal's body, but he feels Jared's arms wrap around him and pull him back. There are tears stinging at his eyes, and maybe it's a little dramatic to get so worked up over a seal, but Sam was his friend.
"It's beautiful, isn't it? The ocean at night. The way the moon shines on it."
Of all the things he's expecting, Jared in the world's ugliest board shorts is not on the list ...
One day Jensen gets home to find Jared trying to get into the trunk with his skin in it. He's worn down his fingers & they're bleeding and he's crying.
" ... And you'll need one of these."
Jensen doesn't realize there are arms wrapped around him, pushing him to the surface, until he hits the crest of a wave
and his lungs fill instinctively, desperate for oxygen.
It's only then that he realizes he was drowning.
It's only then that he realizes he's been saved.
... the ropes around Jared begin to glow a soft blue, as they tighten around him until they're pressing into his skin,
and then disappearing in it.
