Author’s Note: This, at long last, is my 2017 spn_j2_bigbang. This fic has been a work in progress since I first began writing it as a birthday present for Deirdre_c in-I kid you not-2012. Initially inspired by this video of a seal making friends with a beachgoer, I mashed together a bunch of different selkie tales/myths to make this story work and am sorry if you have one headcanon about them and I made a mess of it. According to my research, the Dallas Zoo does not have a seal exhibit. If you have been there and are upset by this inaccuracy, I raise you: a guy who turns into a fucking seal, just let me have this.

Dei, I do not know if you are reading this, but if you are, I hope you love it so much. I decided to write this story for you all those years ago because I know you love beaches and it kind of made me think of your Little Mermaid fic only hopefully they are not so similar that it is not enjoyable to read! I miss you in my daily life because you are one of the brightest spots in fandom. Also, an ‘I told you so’ because SEE I PROMISED I WOULD GET YOUR BIRTHDAY FIC DONE SOMEDAY. It’s even on time(ish) for your birthday. Which I totally did on purpose. I even shoved Daveed in, just for you. My beta was like, “Who is this guy why is he the only non CW-RPF person in this entire story?” and I yodeled “FOR DEEEEIII” to the sky.
Summary: AU: All Jensen wanted was a nice month at the beach. What he got was an over-affectionate seal that happens to turn into a hot guy when no one else is around. Jared makes Jensen’s summer better than he ever could have expected, but when his vacation is up and he has to return to the real world, Jensen finds that he's fallen in love with someone who can only truly love the ocean.
