The rest is silence

Hi LJ. Um, I still miss you. Can we go back to the way it was before? When all my friends posted here. Posted longer thoughtful things about their lives. Posted silly quizes and passed around memes. Commenting on each others posts with words and thoughts and not just a thumbs up Like. Before everyone was shuttled off to Facebook because their ( Read more... )

I was never great at replies even when I was checking LJ everyday. The last several months I have barely been here at all. And when I do read my friends page, the infrequent actual content from people gets lost among the LOLcats and other feeds I have set up so I get annoyed and leave. I think some spring cleaning is in order.

It is hard because I want to keep up with everything and everyone (LJ, Twitter, FB, individual blogs) but that way lies madness and a total loss of all my free time. So I have to be more selective about where I spend my energy. I tend to prioritize reading as much as I can over commenting on stuff. Especially if my reaction is just "Oh cool!" I have to resist the urge to comment and just say "Like" *eye roll* Oh FB what have you done? LOL

I only just now saw your posts about Witch Camp. I should go catch up!

Admittedly, when you posted this I noticed that I've only blogged twice in March. Of course, V's been even worse...

Hear, hear. I was just thinking about posting a rant to LJ about my Saturday experience, which would be way too long of a thing to put on Facebook in the first place. And I miss my LJ friends feed full of updates and silliness and good stuff and bad stuff ... much like life, that.

Exactly. I did start a Wordpress blog, but that too is languishing because I only ever go there to post. There isn't much interaction among blogs so I don't have the lure of seeing what others are up to to draw me back there each day. I mostly post my art there. I should cross post it here too I think.

I'd like to write a longer post about my weekend. Between the concert Saturday and my city adventure and the singing workshop yesterday it was really a lovely time.

I think that cross posting would be good. I look at your art page in my rss feed, but if you were on my "friends" page, I'd be more apt to comment

That is part of my issue though. If I crosspost stuff I have multiple places to check to keep up with comments. It defeats the purpose of trying to simplify things.

I hear you... and I'm still on LJ way more than FB. Not that I ever post much on either, but I like reading about what everyone else is up to!

Miss you--how's life up north working out?

Awesome! I don't know if you ever deal with other Whole Foods stores, but Sarah/Chia is still working at the one downtown, at least for a little while yet. Glad to hear that even if the job situation isn't exactly what you wanted, at least you've got something decent!

We're doing great--have 2 dogs now, and getting ready for a springtime Porkies trip. I'm stoked. :)

I miss the old days of LJ when my friends page was full of posts, and you met actual people through LJ. FB is just not as intimate.

We should all band together and make a valiant attempt to, say, post once per day or per week for some amount of days/weeks!

I'm going to try and at least check in here more often, clear out the cluttery feeds I can check in other places and see who is still around.

Posting semi-regularly is the next step.

BTW LeeAnn I am registering for PSG tomorrow! Vacation time is all approved. I'm going for the whole week. I can't wait!!!

Most excellent. You should come volunteer in the Info Tent for your workshift. :)
