Charming continues to strike me as an idiot. I had the same wtf moment when he left Henry alone with a horse. But maybe that's how Charming learned too, and was kicked in the head as a boy . . . Snow can do better, imo.
The best thing for me in this episode was Jefferson's outfit. Dr. Whale looks way too much like Dr. Horrible. Next week's ep looks dull from the previews, so I'm dubbing it "Jack, the Giant Filler."
Eh, so many of us don't pay as much attention to the directors of some of those old films. I've seen it tons of times but couldn't have told you the director's name until I looked it up.
So far Charming fails as a parental figure. So far he's not actually teaching Henry much of anything.
Hook's introduction definitely sucked but Rumple made him sympathetic in contrast for me. I may have to pretend last week didn't happen.
The magic realm is consistently my favorite, because how much do I love watching 4 women go off on an adventure? (Also, Emma's badassery made her character increase 1000000x in my estimation.) My one issue involved Regina's storyline. While I enjoyed the literary parallel between Frankenstein/Frankenstein's monster and Rumple/Regina... the most powerful character has just had her origin story reduced to being a product of Rumpelstiltskin. I'm just continuously frustrated by how many storylines end up being all about The Men, even when they're ostensibly about the women.
True, we're getting more and more evidence that Regina is the way she is all because of Rumple's master plan. Not all that happy about that part, and it makes me wonder what else Rumple has orchestrated.
I try to be interested in that, but whenever I think of Rumple I think of Belle, and suddenly I'm in Moffat-might-as-well-have-written-this-land. Which is sad, because I really enjoy the show. Sigh.
