Andrew's father passed away quietly this evening around 10 pm. He had been getting weaker since the beginning of the year and we knew it would be soon. The paramedics and sheriff's deputies have been and gone and now we are waiting for the mortuary guy to arrive in an hour or so. Andrew's brother and SIL are here. I have now officially lost 10% of my 12/30/10 weight. Hooray! Happy almost-birthday to me :)

Garmie passed away this morning, having just turned 93 on Tuesday. Mom and I are flying up to Portland Saturday morning. I don't know how I feel yet, staying very busy getting things arranged to travel and be gone from work. I'm very glad I went this summer, which was the real goodbye.

I've lost over 6 pounds in 4 weeks so far on WW. Yay! Steady and manageable.

Then I went skating for the first time since last Thurs (me being sick, Teri being sick). Finally got some good camel spins going consistently for the first time since changing blades. I hope I can reproduce that tonight, it would be such a relief to get that fixed!

Had occasion today to peruse the death certificate of a great man who died this summer at age 90. Death from "complications of subdural hematoma" was ruled "accidental". He injured himself in a fall - "tripped over pile of books."

Add me to the list of folks for whom LJ posting has lost out to life issues for some time. READING LJ, however, is a major sanity check which lets me know my friends are still out there leading their lives and being themselves, even if I hardly ever get to hang out with them ( Read more... )
