Quarter is winding up and I'm finding I definitely need my weekends. Saturday is cycling. Sunday needs a theme. I cut bread baking short last time due to a desire not to turn the house into a sauna. I'm thinking elaborate confections of some flavor (my dietitian would be horrified). Or possibly work my way through some main dishes in a good cook ( Read more... )

Wholesome Sundays? I read Mark Bittman's Food Matters and, with the lifestyle modifications I'm looking into to deal with my lazy sphincter, I'm trying to adapt to more wholesome diet-- less food-taiment, more simplicity/consistency. The nice thing about "wholesome" is it could also mean complex fun like crafts, and other enriching activities. This way you could still do bread, but broaden your scope a little bit to consider rich soups, quick breads, etc. At least, that's what I'm trying to do. I was just sick to death of the word "healthy"; it conjures up visions of artificial sweeter, Richard Simmons, and those nasty puffed-corn, stryrofoam cakes.

Of course, can't say I would be deeply upset if you started making cakes!
