I am trying to decide on a song that I can take to one of my beginner's classes on Wednesday evening. The idea is to find a song where the text is not too difficult, tells a story, and where the grammar is reasonably correct. I have a student who works on the assembly line at Mercedes, so for him I picked "One Piece at a Time" by Johnny Cash. ( Read more... )

No specific titles of songs, but if you want something less obscure and a little 'higher minded' than buttrock, Billy Joel and Sting tend to be good story-tellers in their music and I don't think either of them use much slang in their language.
