I don't know, because then what would happen when the pet went back to their owner and started eating the poor quality food again? Would the animal get sick?

I was concerned about that too. The only thing I can think of is to maybe hold back some of the original food and transition them back to it when it's close to time to go home again.

If it were open-ended, I'd probably switch over and then send them home with some so they can transition back. If they see that their dog is doing better, though, they might switch.

I don't know, the last time I did something like this, the dog came without bed, crate, or toys, let alone food, so I wouldn't have begun to know what to feed except what my dog eats. He seemed to transition on okay, so I can only hope that the transition back was as smooth.

I got half a bag of litter and enough food for three days. She also has ear mites, heh.

I'd contact them and let them know the food is running low. I'd not be keen on switching the dog over and back again, as it's not a permanent situation, and I'd be worried about allergies/interactions or at the very least some tummy upset.
