But the prospect of being all shiny all over .... just think!
Spending an evening in the workshops rubbing down your nearest-and-dearest with a wet Brillo-pad to remove any hint of rust-stains, then a polish with Brasso for that deep-down shine - finished off with a gentle mist of WD40 to help seal out unwanted moisture - what more could a loving Cyberman possibly want?
[Are Cybermen gay? I've never heard mention of the Cyberwomen]
I'll admit up front that I'm not going to watch any new incarnation of Dr. Who, based entirely on ten minutes of the old version which was awful beyond belief. Still, Ghost in the Shell played with the same concept, and it seemed extremely appealing. Tell me, why is it so much better to be made of meat than metal?

sensation. touch. the warth of sunlight on our backs. being held in another's arms, and feeling their breathing and heart beat. dancing. sex. the sheer expressiveness of gesture..
going beyond that, my own explorations into body and mind this year leave me ever more convinced that you can't seperate the two. I've seen (and felt) how people store emotions and tension in their bodies. Also memories. I've moved my consciousness around my body, exploring different areas and the feelings which arise there..a sense of joy, exuberance, laughter - these things do not come through our brains but need the body to be really felt. Even if you just look at the nervous system, you can't see any clear dividing line between the brain and the rest of it.
to be fully human you need all of it. maybe you're emotional, and mortal, but to me the idea of taking one bit of me and incarcerating it in a metal body would be hell.
>Of course, I do have a few issues regarding my body... O_o
I'll say!
Remind me to talk to you about it when I see you....I've recently been talking to a friend who is completing a degree on herbal medicine - she has an incredible understanding of how organs and systems in the body inter-relate, how disfunction and disease work and thus some ideas on what can be done to reduce them. This is solid physiology, not some namby-pamby tree hugging stuff. We had a great conversation about nurtrition at the weekend :). Unfortunatly most people these days are looking for some one-stop pill solution and don't want to hear that it will take 6 months of effort to turn things around. I'm still looking to get to the bottom of my hair loss issue and to hopefully get my hair back to how it was, or at least something healthier.. the first step for me was to stop hating my body for what it was doing and start trying to figure out what it needed.
